My professional background has been in both tertiary and secondary education working in instruction as well as administration.The skill areas in my background that are most relevant include:

​August 2015-Present

 

School Site: Miramonte High School, Acalanes Union High School District, Orinda, CA.

Currently, I am working as a student teacher intern teaching two sections of US History and two sections of World History.  In the 2015-2016 academic year, I was responsible for teaching two sections of Latin III-Honors.  My duties include instruction, design, and grading of all lessons and assessments.  We have been reading authentic texts by Sallust, Cicero, and Catullus.

Recruiting Manager (Goethe Business School).

​February-December 2010

 

I managed the recruiting and internship placement process for full-time MBA students at the University of Frankfurt's Goethe Business School in Germany.  Communication required knowledge of both English and German as well as cross-cultural competency in training exercises.

 

Overseas Seminar & Programmatic Research Coordinator (Stanford).

January 2008-July 2009​

 

I designed and implemented short-term study abroad programs in a variety of international locations.  My duties included advising on all logistical, academic, and financial aspects of the programs, as well as preparartion and delivery of all orientations to students and faculty.

Course Reader (Department of Classics, UC Davis).

September 2003-June 2005​

 

I planned and taught review sessions for several classical mythology courses and a course on the history of women in the classical world.  I evaluated exams and other assessment exercises for 50-200 students.

Teaching Assistant & Adjunct Lecturer (University of Sydney).

February-December 2002

 

I was responsible for teaching six sections of a year-long course on the history of Western Civilization in the first semester and was the adjunct lecturer in charge of lectures, sections, and all assessments in the second semester. I developed unique lecture topics drawn from my own areas of research for my Master's thesis in Modern History at the University of Oxford.

August 2015 - December 2016

I am specializing in World Languages (Latin) with coursework in Secondary Education (Classroom Management, Adolescent Development, and ELL).  I will add an authorization in Social Sciences in January 2017 once I complete the CSET in Social Science and one more Curriculum & Instruction course.

I completed my Master of Arts in Classics part-time and was awarded my degree in May 2012.  Coursework included Latin literature, Roman archaeology, Ancient history, Greek literature, Ancient philosophy, and Near Eastern archaeology.

September 2003 - June 2005​

I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Classics that included coursework in advanced Latin, advanced Greek, and intermediate German.  I was also a teaching assistant for undergraduate courses in classical mythology, and women in the ancient world.

I completed a Master of Studies degree in Modern History specializing in British Commonwealth History 1860-1960.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (summa cum laude) in History with a minor in Latin.  Coursework included medieval European history, British colonial history, African history, Asian and southeast Asian history, and Latin literature.
